Google Assistant Can Recognise, Pronounce Tricky Names

Published

on

Every time Google comes up with crazy updates and now it has announced a new feature to Assistant. Most of the people might have faced problems of mispronunciation with Google voice assistant.

Google in one of its blog post stated that, “Assistant will listen to your pronunciation and remember it, without keeping a recording of your voice. This means Assistant will be able to better understand you when you say those names, and also be able to pronounce them correctly.”

Google Assistant is available in a variety of languages and accents but it still has issues coming to the pronunciation of names and comprehending certain terms. With the latest update, the users will be able to teach Assistant to “enunciate and recognise names of your contacts the way you pronounce them” and this update will be available in the coming days.

Google said that, “We have completely rebuilt Assistant’s NLU models so that it can properly understand when you set timers for various tasks at the same time. This upgrade is driven by state-of-the-art BERT, a technology we developed in 2018 and first introduced to Search that allows us to process words in relation to all other words in a sentence, rather than one by one in order.” Google has already rolled out this feature for alarms and timers on smart speakers in English in the US. BERT was also used by Google to enhance conversations with Assistant. To answer the follow-up questions, Assistant will use your past experiences as well as what’s currently shown on your phone or smart display.

LG To Launch Facemask With Built-in Mic, Speakers

Published

on

LG plans to launch a face mask with a built-in microphone and speakers that will allow users to carry on conversations without having to remove the mask. LG released the Puricare wearable air purifier last year, and the beta model is now being improved. The microphone and speakers are supposed to utilize VoiceON technology, which eliminates the need for users to remove their masks or raise their voices in order to converse.

“Employing LG’s unique air solution technology, the new PuriCare Wearable delivers enhanced all-around performance with a smaller, lighter, more efficient motor. What hasn’t changed are the reliable LG DUAL fans which control airflow automatically by sensing the user’s breathing patterns to make breathing easier and more natural,” LG notes in a statement.

The weight of the mask is 94 grams and has a 1000 mA battery that lasts up to 8 hours and can be recharged in two hours using an easy charge USB cord. According to LG, the PuriCare Wearable’s elegant, ergonomic design reduces air loss around the nose and chin, resulting in a tight but pleasant seal for hours.

LG has not specified whether the mask filters the air that its users exhale in the same way that it filters the air that they inhale. The company has not mentioned the date of launch, but has stated that it will be officially launched in Thailand in August, with other markets to follow if local regulators give their approval. The Puricare masks were also worn by 120 Thai players, coaches, and staff for the summer games in Tokyo, according to the firm.
