After the sudden demise of Dubbaka MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, the seat has fallen vacant and it is likely that the by elections would be held sometime early next year. According to sources, the elections might be held in February last week itself. With this large scale preparations at all the parties are seen. But it is being reported that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already finalised the Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) candidate!

Though TRS was expecting all the political parties to allow them have the seat out of sympathy, they are countered with the contrary! Both the major opposition parties have decided to contest the elections and both the parties are looking at fielding a strong candidate.
It is understood that Congress is fielding its star campaigner and film star Vijayashanti. Already there are lot of brainstorming that is being done in other parties after hearing the name of Vijayashanti. The film actor-turned-politician had earlier contented elections in united Medak district and she is very popular among the people in Dubbaka as Ramulamma.
In the last elections Congress stood second in the Dubbaka while BJP was distant third. With a strong candidate and already Congress having a good support in the region, they are hopefully of taking away the seat from TRS.
Meanwhile, BJP seems to be in a dilemma. While BJP state secretary Raghunandan has taken unilateral decision to contest from Dubbak in the by election, there is no confirmation from the party state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Though the party has not given any approval to Raghunandan, he has already started his campaign seeking votes.
To gain out of the sympathy wave, it is being reported that TRS top leadership has decided to field Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Sujatha. Though officially there has been no announcement by the party with regards to Dubbaka seat, there have been plenty of indications that point towards Sujatha as the TRS candidate for Dubbaka Legislative Assembly constituency.
This would leave former minister Muthyam Reddy’s son Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, who was expecting ticket from TRS, disappointed. On the other hand Sujatha has been requesting the party top leadership to consider their son Solipeta Satish Reddy for MLA ticket, but it is understood that the party was keener on having Sujatha contest the elections.
If Sujatha is finalised, TRS is banking on sympathy votes since both the opposition parties – Congress and BJP – are all set to field tough candidates against TRS person in Dubbaka. Hopefully KCR’s game will fructify!
