Who doesn’t love food. And today on the occasion of World Food Day, lets talk about food and nothing else. Over years, people have devoured various kinds of food that is from local, traditional and street food, to seafood and vegetarian food, to top culinary food delights to satiate one’s food cravings.

When it comes to street food places like Amritsar, Mumbai, Jaipur and Chennai are the places to try. In the seafood category, Kochi leads the way and is followed by Calangute, Varkala, Mangalore and Candolim. And when it comes to vegetarian food, travellers seem to prefer Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Shirdi.

Lets us see what our city, Hyderabad has to offer on the occasion of World Food Day 2020

Hyderabadi’s like to feast on numerous items as this City of the Nawabs offers many varieties. Some items which has remained in the minds of travelers or us locals are the following.

Not just that, Telangana in its cuisine, there is special place for roti’s made from millets, such as jonna rotte along with a gravy or curry is called Koora and Pulusu made out of Tamarind.

Hyderabadi’s always knew their food and took their culinary affairs seriously so much so that the first Nizam of Hyderabad, Qamar-ud-din Khan, chose to give the humble Indian bread, ‘kulcha’, a special place on the official flag of their kingdom !

Thus, Hyderabad’s Deccani cuisine is a beautiful amalgamation of the local Telugu, Marathwada and Muslim cultures where dishes of rice, wheat and meats are skillfully cooked with herbs, spices and natural edibles along with their Hyderabadi Chaay ofcourse. Vegetable Pancake: Best Dish For COVID Patients

It is very important to give a health diet to COVID patients and covid recovered patients. Vegetable Pancake is made of using many vegetables and it is rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc. Here is the recipe, just give a quick look at the article.

INGREDIENTS (Serves:1)
Carrot – 1/4 cup
Spinach – 1/4 cup
Cabbage – 1/4 cup
Onion – 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
Green chillies – 2
Ginger – 1 inch

Whole grain flour – 75g
Roasted Gram flour (besan) – 25g
Sattu – 25g
Oats – 25g
Milk – 1 cup
Egg – 1
Refined oil – 2 tbsp
Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Jeera powder – 1/2 tsp
White sesame – 1 tsp
Salt – according to taste

For chutney:
Pumkin seed – 1 tbsp
Sesame seed – 1 tbsp (White)
A handful of mint
Curd – 2 tbsp
Green chillies – 2
Garlic – 2
Salt to taste

Process:

First mix all the powder ingredients including flour, gram flour, oats, sattu, salt, turmeric, baking powder, pepper powder and jeera powder.

Later, chop the cabbage, green chilli, onion, spinach, and coriander leaves.

Grate carrot and ginger.

Now, mix flour mixture and chopped vegetables.

Now, it’s time to add some milk and egg to the mixture.

Mix thoroughly and get a thick dropping consistency.

If necessary, one can add a few spoons of milk. Allow the mixture to rest for 10 minutes.

Heat a non-stick pan and brush some oil. Put a spoonful of mixture on the pan and spread it.

Allow it to cook on low flame and press it gently. Flip it and do the same till it turns golden brown.

For chutney, grind all the ingredients except curd. Add curd to it later and mix properly.

Benefits of vegetable pancake:

Vegetable pancake can be taken for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even as a snack. It contains proteins, minerals, vitamins and complex carbohydrates. In this recipe, we have used eggs, curd, milk, veggies, spices so, it will help in boosting immunity.

Kamala Harris took to her Twitter and shared a thanksgiving recipe. Thanksgiving day is celebrated in US, Canada, Brazil, etc., on the fourth Thursday of November. This year, it falls on November 28th. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. On this day, people make different recipes.

Kamala Harris shared the recipe ‘Cornbread Dressing’ on her social media with a caption, “During difficult times I have always turned to cook. This year, I wanted to share one of my family’s favourite Thanksgiving recipes with you. I hope whenever you’re able to make it in life, it brings you as much warmth as it has brought me—even when separated from those I love.”

Ingredients for Cornbread Dressing:

2 8oz packages of cornbread mix
1 pound spicy pork sausage
2 onions, chopped
2 apples, cored and chopped
4 celery stalks, diced
¾ cup of chicken broth
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
2 tsp sage
½ tsp thyme
½ tsp rosemary
salt & pepper

Directions:

Bake your cornbread according to the instructions on the package. This can be done the day before. Once it’s cooled, crumble it.

Take the sausage out of its casing, crumble it, and brown it in a little oil. When it’s cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove it from the pan and set it aside.

Saute the vegetables and apples in the remaining oil in the same pan.

Mix that with the sausage, cornbread crumbs, melted butter, herbs, and chicken broth.

Put the mixture in a baking dish and bake at 375F for about 40 minutes. Enjoy!

Healthy Recipe For Diwali: Chandrashoor Ladoo

Diwali is around the corner and want to try some special recipe? Here is ‘Chandrashoor Ladoo’. It is not only tasty but also healthy. The ladoos are rich in nutrients and help reducing blood pressure and cholesterol. So, my dear readers, without further late, just know how to do it.

Ingredients:
Chandrashoor seeds – 50 gm
Grated coconut – 200 gm
Coconut Milk or water – 200 gm
Jaggery – 600 gm
Almonds – 50 gm
Jaiphal powder – 2 tsp
Ghee – 2 tsp

Process:

  • Soak Chandrashoor in either coconut milk or water for three to four days.
  • Take almonds and make a fine powder out of it.
  • Keep the pan on the stove and add ghee to it.
  • After the ghee melts, add jaggery to it.
  • Keep it on low flame and see to that jaggery melts completely. After that add soaked chandrashoor to the melted jaggery.
  • Mix it well and finally add grated coconut.
  • Stir it well and cook until the water gets evaporated.
  • Now, add jaiphal powder and fine powder of almonds.
  • Mix it properly and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Then add some ghee to your hands and roll the mixture into ladoos.

Note: Chandrashoor is one of the effective herbs of Ayurveda that belongs to mustard family. This herb is very beneficial and used to pacify vata and kapha dosha.
